LONI Institute Graduate Student Fellows at Tulane University

The LONI Institute (http://www.institute.loni.org), a new initiative funded by the Louisiana Board of Regents and six member institutions:
  • Louisiana State University
  • Louisiana Tech University
  • Southern University
  • Tulane University
  • University of Louisiana at Lafayette
  • University of New Orleans
invites applications for LONI Institute Graduate Student Fellows. The LI expects to name six graduate student fellows beginning immediately, one at each member institution, for a one-year term initially. Research can be in any area of science, engineering, social sciences, arts and humanities, although the fellow awards are intended to support graduate students whose research projects require access to high-end computing facilities, networks, distributed data archives, and more generally cyberinfrastructure. The awards will include a stipend of $20,000.

The LI Graduate Student Fellows will work on projects selected on the basis of
  • Excellence in research in the disciplines
  • Potential to utilize and advance the infrastructure under development across LONI
  • Promise for external funding in the future
  • Potential to meet the metrics for success of the LI (http://www.institute.loni.org/metrics.php)
For this first year, preference will be given to advanced graduate students with experience in use of HPC environments or modern cyberinfrastructure who have a demonstrated track record and particular relevance to LONI.
